Kenzo Editorial

This is a University Project. This is the project that really made me fall in love with editorial layouts and combining text with illustrations. The editorial is about the late Kenzo Takada, the founder and fashion designer of the Kenzo brand. When I chose this project fashion illustrations peaked my interest and I wanted to try to produce some myself. Creating an editorial style zine was a challenge, but I learnt some important lessons in composition and making text and images work together cohesively.

Because Kenzo used rich, vibrant colours and patterns in his work, my illustrations evolved to look more abstract in order to put the visual focus on colour and geometric shapes of the fabric’s patterns and silhouettes of the garment.

The text is from two existing articles that talked about the impact Kenzo had on the fashion world

Here’s some behind the scene sketches.
